Rewards

Rewarding Good Behaviour 

All students should be recognised, rewarded and praised consistently and regularly for their positive behaviour and efforts. The rewards system is intended to encourage students to demonstrate the Twickenham School values through the ways in which they work and behave. Students will be rewarded for high levels of effort and academic achievement, in addition to demonstrating the Twickenham School values. The use of rewards to recognise high standards of behaviour is integral to the positive culture of the school and to the positive professional relationships which benefit all members of the school community.  

 

Merit Points 

The whole-school rewards system is based primarily on the accumulation of merit points. Staff will award students with merit points as a matter of routine for positive behaviours in lessons, around school and across all other areas of school life.  

Merit point totals will be logged by each individual student and also by the school, so that reward certificates and prizes can be awarded upon the attainment of specific rewards milestones. Reward certificates and prizes will be awarded at the following milestones and presented to students in half-termly reward assemblies:

Additional Rewards 

Student achievements are also celebrated and recognised in (but not limited to) the following ways: 

 

Phone calls home 

 A positive phone call home will be made to recognise consistent or improved effort or progress in lessons. 

 

 Praise postcards 

 Praise postcards will be sent to parents/ carers via email. This could be to recognise an exceptional  piece of work, sustained effort or for making very good progress in a subject/ topic. 

 

Certificates 

Certificates for rewards milestone achievements, excellent attendance and bespoke achievements will be awarded to students in half termly assemblies. 

 

Newsletter / Social Media 

Students will be recognised for success and achievement both inside and outside of school through our weekly newsletter and social media platforms 

 

Badges and Award  Pins 

These will   be   distributed   half - termly by Heads of Department to recognise outstanding academic achievement. Other badges may be given out for attending clubs, student leadership or attendance.  

Replacement of lost badges can be made on request and payment. 

Jack Petchey  Awards 

Twickenham School is a member of the Jack Petchey Award scheme. Students are nominated for their achievements both inside and outside of school.  Students and staff vote for nominated students, and award winners are given £250 to use within the school setting. 

Above and 

Beyond awards 

These are awarded to students who go above and beyond expectations to demonstrate the school values. One boy and one girl will be awarded the above and beyond award by the Headteacher in each end of term assembly.  

 

Student Leadership 

Students will apply for and be recognised for demonstrating the school values through positions in the student leadership team.
