Skye Ridler (Yr 7) organised and held a VE Day street party for her neighbours, then extended the celebrations to the elderly residents at Alms House. The party included 1940s music, singing and dancing. Skye has also been knitting for the NHS. Well done ! https://t.co/NHN5Zd9c4H

Feedback from our families, students and local community

We are continually looking for opportunities to improve parent/family engagement to support student learning. We value the contributions and engagement of parents/families in order to establish an equal partnership for the common goal of improving student achievement. Below is a selection of comments received from our families, students and members of the local community.

'We're just writing to say thank you for the excellent quality of English teaching you're providing our son with.  We're really impressed with the way you are stretching him in language and literature, and your homework assignments always seem really worthwhile.  We never feel that they're just set to tick a box or pass the time, but are really well considered to move him on and progress from where he's already at. He really likes being taught by you and tells us little anecdotes about what you've said or displays in your classroom - they don't go unnoticed.' (Year 7 parent)

'We are delighted that our sons are both being taught by you this year, they really seem to enjoy your lessons.  Thank you, too, for the positive feedback at the parents' evening two weeks ago.  It's been lovely this week hearing him voluntarily and enthusiastically play his composition on the piano at home. My husband is able to jam along with him on guitar so it's quite fun for us all.  Ben really looks forward to your music lessons and we are very pleased that he's opted for GCSE music; we will do everything we can to support him in this.' (Year 9 parent)

'I go to Twickenham School, our school had a bad review from Ofsted and it needed to improve urgently. About a year ago we got a new Headteacher, Ms Ruse. She made the school improve an awful lot. We got a new canteen in April, new staff, the behaviour has got a lot better and it is an all round better school. The school has really improved, just like Ms Ruse said it would. I have been at school for almost 3 years and have seen it go through a lot, but just the first day back has proved how great it can really be.' (Year 9 student)

'Well done Twickenham School. So impressed with the talk and tour of the school. My tour guides were amazing so knowledgeable and happy. Came across a few students on my way round also that were polite and helpful. Massive improvement and its really becoming a fabulous school.Also like to add I am already a parent at the school and my son (yr 8) enjoys school and works hard, so super impresed.' (Yr 8 Parent)

'At the beginning of the year the move to year 7 was really smooth and easy. All of the teachers and students were really welcoming. Throughout the year we have had many amazing moments, like the year 7 trip to High Ashurst and our roller blading party. I have learnt so many new things this year and made loads of new friends, it had been really great.' (Oscar Choinski, 7AML)

'When I joined in Year 7, I was a little bit scared. I was shy talking to new teachers and making new friends, but now it feels normal. The best part of year 7 so far was the pizza reward party we had before Christmas. I love the achieving rewards we get and all of the amazing trips.' (Keila Taka, 7AST)

'When I joined year 7 I was really nervous about getting too much homework and getting detentions, but I realised that year 7 is great and we do lots of really fun things. Some of my favourite bits so far have been the trip to High Ashurst, as it was so much fun. I also really like being able to use the rock climbing wall and having fun rewards like the roller blading party and hot chocolate mornings.' (Katie Walsh, 7AML)
