Governor vacancies

Clerk to Hampton High and Twickenham School Local Governing Bodies

Hampton High and Twickenham School are 2 thriving secondary schools located within 5 miles of each other in the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames.  The schools are academies and work closely together.

A vacancy has arisen for an excellent administrator with good organisational skills, who can think strategically and make good decisions whilst paying close attention to detail, to join the school teams as clerk to their local governing bodies.  The 2 separate governing bodies each meet twice termly in the evening.  The clerk arranges the meetings; collates and distributes papers; advises the governors on governance, constitutional and procedural matters; provides effective administrative support both during and after the meetings and manages governance information in accordance with legal requirements.

In addition to the 12 regular evening meetings, the clerk needs to be flexible to attend and support occasional ad-hoc meetings which may be arranged during the school day or evening.  Hours are as required and expected to be between 300 and 350 per year.  Aside from scheduled meetings, the clerk’s work pattern is for the individual to determine, and most of the work is during term time.

If you require any further information, please contact Jo Green (greenj@bourne.education).

Only applications submitted on the schools’ or TES application form will be considered.  We do not accept CVs.  Your referees will be contacted if you are shortlisted.  If you are applying directly, please send your completed application form to Jo Green (greenj@bourne.education).

Deadline for applications:  12 noon, Monday 12th July 2021.
Start Date: 01 September 2021.

The schools reserve the right to commence the interview process at any time prior to the closing date, so early application is recommended.

Both Hampton High and Twickenham School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  Any offer of employment is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.
